BOBBY HACKNEY: BASS PLAYER, LEAD VOCALIST, LYRICIST AND SONGWRITER
Bobby Hackney today is enjoying the resurgence of Death. Bobby, along with brother Dannis founded the Reggae Band Lambsbread in 1982, and has been that entitiy’s Bass Guitarist, primary Lead Vocalist, and Songwriter. After the days of Death, Bobby went on to produce and oversee 8 projects for Lambsbread albums (9 including the latest Lambsbread album released in January 2010). The years Bobby spent in Detroit studying the Business Of Music came in handy in Vermont, starting a sixteen track (now 24 track) recording studio, creating, organizing and successfully directing a five year Reggae festival in Burlington Vermont which not only up to that time broke all records for public gathering in Vermont, but also increased the popularity of Reggae Music in Vermont and all of New England. In 1973 Bobby was appointed by brother David as the director of Death’s complete catalog of recorded, unrecorded, and demonstration recordings. Since that time Bobby has always taken this task very seriously and thanks to the devotion of this task, the music and catalog of all Death songs were preserved.
DANNIS HACKNEY: ORIGINAL DEATH DRUMMER, ENGINE
Dannis Hackney today is enjoying the Death resurgence. Having been the Drummer for the New England based Reggae band "Lambsbread"that he co-founded with brother Bobby, Dannis has continued to masterfully play the Drums throughout the years and is still as vital today as he was in the mid 70s during the Death/United Sounds of Detroit years. Dannis has made a name for himself as one of the tightest, steadiest Drummers in New England and National Reggae Circles. Many in those same circles are now finding out that Dannis is also one of the tightest, steadiest Rock-N-Roll Drummers to come out of Detroit the Motor City.
BOBBIE DUNCAN: GUITARIST, VOCALIST, SONGWRITER , AND ARRANGER
Bobbie Duncan is the current Guitarist for Death. Bobby Hackney was introduced to Bobbie Duncan through the mutual friendship of their two wives. Bobbie is an accomplished Guitarist, vocalist,Songwriter, Arranger and Producer coming from Harlem New York. Having done session work at Sony Studios, Hit Factory, Unique Studios, and Electric Lady and from running his own label and studio operation of recording and producing. Bobbie has worked with, such notables as The Poindexters Brothers, and the Alleems Brothers in support of Jocelyn Brown and Ronnie Dyson. Bobbie has also performed on shows with Blue Magic, Keith Sweat and a host of others. How did a guy like Bobbie Duncan end up with two guys like Bobby and Dannis Hackney in Jericho/Underhill Vermont?? The Hackney Brothers are somewhat amazed by this themselves, connecting the sequence of meeting Bobbie to David Hackney himself. Could David have had a hand in this? After 9/11 Bobbie’s sister already living in Vermont, convinced Bobbie to move his family to the tranquility of Vermont and how uncanny that he is not only within the same age group as David Hackney, but comes from the same era and timeline of musical background (late 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond). Bobbie knows Rock-N-Roll, Blues, Soul Music, Jazz Music, Reggae, and American Standards, a perfect fit for Death.
